I actually have pretty good experience in narrative writing. We had done this type of writing in school pretty often. This is actually my favorite kind of writing and I find it to be the easiest to write. I would definitely rather write a narrative than a research paper. I like how it can be creative. I have written a lot of narrative throughout high school and enjoyed it. I took creative writing twice in high school because I had actually really enjoyed the class. Both times I had taken the class one of our assignments was a memoir. Although it had been with different teachers with different assignments, they both included this one. I had written about my parents getting divorced, but I shown this through the way the holidays had changed since them separating. Similar to the way we are reading our pieces aloud, my one teacher took our writings and removed our names and handed a hard copy out to the class. We would each have to make any sort of corrections and comments to each others works. She then would have us sit in a circle and talk about each piece but left it anonymous. I think this was actually a good technique because it forced each of us to talk about the pieces without knowing who's it had been. She had actually done this with a few of our wt=writing assignments in class. Writing about my parents separating was something that had upset me, but wasn't too hard to write about. I had made sure this time around to write about something that was sort of hard to talk about let alone write about in such descriptive details.
I will present drafts of my memoir here.
